FAQ's

Drag and drop organiser motion
A whole bunch of commonly asked questions

Do I need a subscription?
No, you can have up to 5 Whiteboards without needing a subscription, although you'll be limited to 1 Ride & Report and 1 Horse Management whiteboard.

If you want to add more than 5 whiteboards, or one of the other whiteboard types, you will need to subscribe. You'll also need to subscribe if you'd like to be able to share a whiteboard with another user.

What is a Whiteboard?
A whiteboard is a digital version of what might be hanging on your tackroom or kitchen wall. It's a monthly-calendar based way of organising you, your horses, your pets or pretty much anything you can imagine.

Each whiteboard contains up to 24 activities. An activity might be something like "Physio" or "Flatwork Session". Each whiteboard can contain a different set of activities that you customise.

You select a whiteboard, then drag and drop an activity to a particular day to add it to the calendar.

When you set up a whiteboard, you can set its name and choose what type it is. Different whiteboard types all behave the same, but come with different pre-loaded activities and offer the option of specific form types.

Can I customise the preloaded activities that come with a particular Whiteboard type?
Yes, absolutely! You can change the name of any of the activities or delete them and add extra ones.

What is a report form?
A form is an optional place for you to record what happened during an activity. You don't have to fill in a form for every activity entry you add to the calendar.

When setting up an activity – e.g. Flatwork – you can choose whether you want the form to pop up automatically when you add a Flatwork entry to the calendar. You can add or edit what's in a form at any time by tapping on a particular activity.

There are seven types of form:

  • Notes – for general notes about an activity that happened

  • Ride Report – to record and reflect on a ride

  • Competition Report – to record and reflect on a competition

  • Industry Professional Report – to record a visit from e.g. a farrier or physio

  • Self-care Report – to record and reflect on a self-care activity e.g. a massage

  • Journal Report – to record and reflect on your day

  • Custom Report – to record however and whatever you'd like!

But not all form types are available for every type of whiteboard.

Do I *have* to fill in a report form?

Nope, absolutely not. If all you want to do is drag and drop activities and never ever look at a form, you can absolutely do that. Or if you want to add a note every now and then, you can do that. Or if you only want to use part of a form, you can do that too. It's your app, your organisation and it's completely up to you!

Will I still have access to my Whiteboards if I cancel my subscription?
You can still access up to 5 of the default whiteboards if your subscription elapses. That means you'll still be able to access 1 of your Ride & Report Whiteboards, 1 of your Horse Management plus 3 of any of the Blank, Yard or Daily Management whiteboards.

But, you don't have to include any specific types. For example, you could have 5 blank whiteboards (although you'd only be able to use the notes form). The limit, if you aren't subscribed, is that you can only access 1 of your Ride & Report whiteboards and 1 of your Horse Management whiteboards.

If you have multiple Ride & Report or Horse Management boards and you cancel your subscription, you'll be able to access the oldest of the boards you've added.

Can I delete a Whiteboard?
Yes, you can delete any one of your whiteboards – even the default ones – at any time. However, once deleted, it's gone forever along with any of the activity entries you've added.

If you do delete the default Ride & Report or Horse Management whiteboard and you are not subscribed, you can still add a new Ride & Report or Horse Management – but only 1 of each.

Does a form pop-up every time I add an activity entry to the calendar?
Not necessarily! When you add an activity to one of your whiteboards, there's a tick box that lets you choose whether you want the form to pop up automatically whenever you add that activity entry to the calendar.

You can change this at any time. And of course you can edit a form at any time by tapping on an activity entry.

How do I set the type of form for an activity?
When you add an activity, you can choose which of the form options are available for that whiteboard you would like. This sets the default form that'll be associated with that activity, and you can edit this at any time (although any changes will only affect new entries for this activity, not ones you've already added).

You can also change individual instances of a form type. For example, say you have an activity type called “Showjumping”. You set the default form as “Ride Report” because that's what you'll use most often. However, on a competition day, you're likely to want to add in a competition report, so when the default form comes up, choose the “change form type” option and select the new type.

Note that not all form types are available for all whiteboard types.

Can I make my own report form?
Yes, you have the option of customising a report form if you've got a current subscription. You can choose to include various parts of the form like the time, which drag and drop icons you want to include (if any, with a limit of 4 types) and up to 8 question fields.

Can I reuse a custom form?
Yes, you can reuse a form you've already customised for as many activities as you like. Instead of opting to add a 'New Custom Report', choose the 'Existing Custom Report' option instead – that will list all the custom forms available to you.

Do I have to fill out all the options on a custom form?
Nope – just the ones you want to include. For example, you could make a form with just 4 drag and drop icons (e.g. Weather:, How I'm feeling:, How my horse is feeling: and Day rating:) and nothing else. Or just a time field. Or just a single field like 'How it went'. It's completely up to you!

Can I change the name of an activity?
Yes, you can change the name of an activity in one of your whiteboards. It'll only affect new activity entries, not ones that you have already added to the calendar.

Can I change the colour of an activity?
Yes you can, but your choices will be limited to your whiteboard's colour palette. Any change will only affect new entries, not the entries for that activity that you may have already added to the calendar.

Can I delete or edit a preloaded activity?
Yes, you can delete or change the name of an activity that comes preloaded with a whiteboard type. It'll only affect new activity entries, not ones that you have already added to the calendar.

Am I limited to 24 activities in a whiteboard?
Nope! If you're a subscriber, you can add another 12 activities to a whiteboard.

If you've almost filled the default 24, you'll get asked if you want to add more. Or you can add more at any time from the Whiteboard settings page.

Can I change the whiteboard type?
Nope – once you've created a whiteboard and selected its type, you can't change it afterwards. You can change its name.

Can I change the name of a whiteboard?
Yep – you can edit a whiteboard's name by tapping on it from the list view on the settings view.

Can I change a whiteboard's colour palette?
Nope – once you've chosen the initial colour palette for a whiteboard, that's it forever!

Can I share a whiteboard with someone else?
Yes you can share a whole whiteboard if:

  • you're subscribed

  • they've got an account with Equiniser (they don't need to be subscribed)

You'll need to enter the email they signed up to Equiniser with.

You can choose what level of control the person you're sharing with has over a whiteboard:

  • Contributor – they can add new activity types and new entries to the calendar or remove calendar entries just as if this was their own whiteboard. They just can't delete it.

  • Viewer – They can only see the activities and calendar entries that you've made. They can't add any new activities or edit them and they can't add any new activity entries to the calendar.

You can change this level of control for a particular user at any time.

You can share the same whiteboard with multiple people and can set the level of control individually. For example you can share with Betty and Jane. You can set Jane to be a contributor (maybe she's a sharer for your horse) and Betty to be a viewer (maybe she's your instructor).

When you share a whiteboard, the person you've shared with needs to accept your invitation before they can access it. They may choose to decline.

Can someone add entries and activities to a whiteboard I've shared with them?
That depends on the level of control you've given them:

  • Contributor – they can add new activity types and new entries to the calendar or remove calendar entries just as if this was their own whiteboard. They just can't delete it.

  • Viewer – They can only see the activities and calendar entries that you've made. They can't add any new activities or edit them and they can't add any new activity entries to the calendar.

You can change this level of control for a particular user at any time.

Will I still be able to access my whiteboards and all my activity entries if I get a new phone?
Yes, all the data you enter (whiteboards, activities and calendar entries) are backed up and stored on the cloud. So if you get a new phone, you'll just need to log into your account and you'll be able to see it all.

Why do I suddenly not have access to a whiteboard that was shared with me?
If you can still see the name of the whiteboard on your list, but it's in grey and it won't let you tap on it, then the user who shared it with you has had their subscription expire. If they resubscribe, you'll be able to access the whiteboard again.

If the whiteboard has vanished from your lists entirely, it's because the person who shared it with you has stopped sharing.

Why has the name of a whiteboard turned grey and I can't click on it?
If it's a whiteboard that you've added yourself, it's because your subscription has run out and you've gone back to your original quota of 5 whiteboards (including 1 x Ride & Report and 1 x Horse Management). If you resubscribe, you'll get access to all those whiteboards again.

Note that if you've shared a whiteboard with someone and your subscription expires, they'll no longer be able to access it either.

If the whiteboard was shared with you by someone else, it's unavailable because their subscription has expired.

Do I need an internet connection to use the app?

Yes and no. You'll need it to download the app, register and set up your initial whiteboards. You'll also need it to edit or add new whiteboards and activities. You can add new entries (for an existing activity) without internet. The entries will still be saved to your phone and they should eventually end up on the cloud. You'll also need internet to be able to see the entries that a sharer of one of your whiteboards might have added."
